US Journalist Killed in Ukraine on Project for Time Magazine

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, KIEV – American journalist Brent Renaud, who was reportedly killed in Ukraine, was actually working on Time Studios’ global refugee crisis project.

Time magazine made this statement in a statement on Sunday.

“We are devastated by the death of Brent Renaud. In recent weeks, Brent has been in the region working on a TIME Studios project focused on the global refugee crisis,” said Time.

Please note, The New York Times previously reported that Renaud had been killed in the Kiev region of Ukraine, while his colleague Juan Arredondo was injured.

The US authorities have not confirmed the journalist’s death, saying the circumstances of his death remain unclear.

Earlier, a Kiev-based hospital posted a video on Instagram showing Arredondo recalling that the car they were driving had been fired upon near a checkpoint in the city of Irpen.

But he did not give details about who shot the car.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation (invasion) in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance submitted by the head of the Donbass Republic.

However, he stressed that his country has no plans to occupy Ukrainian territory.

He claimed this operation was carried out only for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also conveyed the same thing that Russian troops did not target cities in Ukraine, but only paralyzed the Ukrainian military infrastructure.

Therefore, Russia insists there is no targeted threat to the civilian population.
