TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Russia has threatened to target Western arms supplies sent to Ukraine.
The Russian side said convoys with foreign weapons in Ukraine could be considered “legitimate targets” for Russian attacks.
“We warn the United States that pumping Ukraine with weapons from a number of countries regulated by them is not only a dangerous step, but an act that turns a suitable convoy into a legitimate target,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, according to the news agency. state-owned RIA Novosti belongs to Russia.
The warning could escalate the situation in Ukraine further.
Ryabkov’s comments come as the US directs $200 million for defense aid and services, including military education and training to Ukraine.
A US administration official said the $200 million would include anti-armor, anti-aircraft systems and small arms to support Ukrainian frontline defenders facing Russia.
