Washington – Satellite imagery taken on Sunday (27/2) shows the massive deployment of Russian ground troops, including tanks, into the Ukrainian capital Kiev from about 64 km away.

The image released by Maxar Technologies Inc shows the deployment of troops over 5 km long, consisting of hundreds of Russian military vehicles.

The convoy of vehicles recorded northeast of the Ukrainian city of Ivankiv was carrying fuel, logistics and armored vehicles such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and artillery, Maxar said.

The images from the satellite also show the damage caused by the recent airstrike on the Antonov airport in Hostomel and heavy fighting in and around the airport, according to the Maxar report.

Maxar has been tracking the addition of Russian troops for several weeks. His satellite imagery could not be independently verified by Reuters. Ant/Ner
