VIVA – The Executive Board of the All-Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) has finished conducting the National Selection as well as a time trial in preparation for the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games. PRSI plans to announce the Indonesian Swimming National Team next week.
This time trial selection will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta, March 10-12, 2022. On this last day (12/3), the swimmers are considered to have been able to bring out their maximum ability to get the best time record.
From there, PB PRSI said it had collected the latest data that would be used as a reference for selecting the swimmers who would become the Indonesian Swimming National Team and compete in the SEA Games Vietnam 2021. PRSI did not want to choose swimmers based on their big names.
“Today, many swimmers have recorded a very good time. We hope that with this National Selection, the core team of the Indonesian Swimming National Team will be selected based on the objectivity and final results of the swimmers,” said Deputy Chairperson of PB PRSI, Harlin Erlianto Rahardjo, to reporters. , Saturday 12 March 2022.
“We hope that we are chosen not because of big names or past results such as PON, but recent results. Because many swimmers who won PON have slack training. So, we have to choose swimmers who are really ready,” he said.
Furthermore, Harlin explained that on the last day of National Selection there were still several young swimmers who had the potential to be considered for the Indonesian Swimming National Team. One of them is Adelia in the women’s 100m backstroke who can beat senior swimmer, Anandia Treciel Vanessae Evato.
“Therefore, it should be a consideration for the coaching team and the National Team to choose young athletes who have enthusiasm and have a high will to win,” said Harlin.
