VIVA – Ousmane Dembele is currently under contract with Barcelona. He will only leave on a free transfer when his contract expires, at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Club president Joan Laporta is still hopeful that the Frenchman will decide to sign a new contract at Camp Nou.
The 24-year-old was initially kept out of competition during the end of the January transfer window, but having failed to secure a move, Xavi Hernandez has turned to him in recent weeks and he has responded with some very impressive performances.
Dembele contributed to score goals as Barcelona slaughtered Athletic Bilbao. He scored one goal in that match.
“Dembele knows our offer and we always want him to stay. We hope that at the end of the season he will reconsider,” Laporta was quoted as saying by Marca, Wednesday 2 March 2022.
Dembele was previously reported to have refused to leave Barcelona in the winter transfer window. He is on the verge of leaving on a free, even though Barcelona paid more than 100 million euros to sign him in 2017.
