Fabio Quartararo claimed to be satisfied with the results on the first day of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test session at the Mandalika Circuit. But Quartararo also admitted to playing it safe, even though it had nothing to do with the track.

Fabio Quartararo recorded the fifth best time on the first day of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test session at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, NTB, Friday (11/2). The Yamaha rider still lost to Pol Espargaro, Aleix Espargaro, Brad Binder, and Alex Rins.

“I am happy with the results on the first day, to adjust again with the engine,” he said at the Media Center of the Mandalika Circuit to the media crew.

“Aerodynamics are likely to be important at this circuit,” continued Quartararo.

Fabio Quartararo welcomed various questions from the media crew. Including, about his experience of visiting Lombok.

“First, this sport (MotoGP-ed) is loved by many fans in Indonesia. I am happy and can’t wait to meet them,” he explained.

“The nature here is very beautiful, I also like local food but I play it safe,” he added, which was greeted with laughter.

How do you play it safe?

“I’ve been eating too much rice and chicken since yesterday,” he said, grinning.

“Before training, I have to practice and stop eating. But trying local food in an area, it’s a must,” he added.

“I’ve been to Indonesia before and tried local food. It’s delicious, but now take care of the food first, especially the spicy one,” he concluded.
