Zendaya To Star In Challengers Film Directed By Luca Guadagnino

Renowned director Luca Guadagnino has found the lead for his upcoming romantic sports drama film project entitled Challengers. ZendayaJosh O’Connor and Mike Faist reported has joined the film.

Challengers will follow the story of Tashi (Zendaya), a professional tennis athlete who now acts as a coach. After pushing her husband (Faist) to become a tennis legend, she forces him to participate in a low-key “challenger” event where one of the opponents is her former best friend and former lover, Patrick (O’ Connor). The film is expected to start production this spring.

Scenario for Challengers will be written by scriptwriter and novelist, Justin Kuritzkes, with Amy Pascal serving as producer for the drama film. For Guadagnino, this project will be one of his new projects after Suspiria in 2018, a film inspired by Dario Argento’s original 1977 film. Before that, Guadagnino rose to fame with Call Me by Your Name in 2017, a film starring Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet. The film went on to be nominated for four Academy Awards—including Best Picture—and took home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Currently, Guadagnino is completing production for its next project, Bones and Allwith Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell as the main stars.

Zendaya herself has now become a young actress who has received quite a lot of attention in recent years. He recently starred in a box office film, Spider-Man: No Way Homeas well as movies Dune, who recently earned 10 nominations for the Academy Awards. He also starred in the series Euphoria belongs to HBO, for which he has won an Emmy in 2020.
