“From the visionary director Robert Eggers, here is THE Northman, an action-packed epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge the murder of his father. With an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.”

Apart from directing, Eggers also co-wrote The Northman along with the Icelandic novelist and poet, Sjón. In a recent interview, Eggers talked about the scale of The Northman, which is bigger than anything he’s ever done before. “The scale is huge and there are so many more locations and things that I can’t do all of them or know every prop myself. That’s a challenge in itself with this new film.” Eggers also said, “We’re designing all these worlds, building these villages, we’re making thousands of costumes and props, training horses the things they need to do, designing shots for films.” Eggers continued, “But in this film it can be said that it’s rare to have a scene that isn’t on the boat or doesn’t have a lot of extras.”
