Synopsis Black Adam Seduces the Unique Form of Justice from the DC Antihero

As we know, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will soon transform into a new antihero figure in his debut as Black Adam. And now an official synopsis for the DC film has been released and teases a story about the upcoming superhero drama. Launched by Warner Bros., short logline Black Adam it reveals the origins of the antihero played by The Rock that the comic books claim, which will lead to Black Adam’s unconventional methods of truth, justice, and all sorts of other things.

Here is the synopsis:

“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed the all-powerful powers of the Egyptian gods—and later imprisoned—Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) was released from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice in the modern world.”

The long-awaited film will star Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam, whose backstory was mentioned in Shazam! in 2019. The film adaptation is also expected to introduce the Justice Society of America. Joining Johnson are Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Other cast members are Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu.

In the comics, Black Adam initially appears as a villain against the superhero character Shazam. Adam was the first champion mainstay of the wizard Shazam for centuries. Over time, Adam became greedy for power and later turned into Black Adam. This forces the wizard to seal the villain for centuries, meanwhile he finds a new superhero hero, namely Billy Batson who is also the central character of the film Shazam! in 2019.

Given a set of powers that includes S for Shu’s stamina, H for Horus’ speed, A for Amon’s strength, Z for Zehuti’s wisdom, A for Aten’s strength, and M for Mehen’s courage, Black Adam emerges as a unique protector and antihero, before eventually becoming The mortal enemy of the superhero Shazam and his superhero family.

Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) is directing the film from a script written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani following an earlier draft from Adam Sztykiel. Warner Bros. will release the film on July 29, 2022 and will only premiere on HBO Max 45 days after its theatrical release.
