Last Sunday, the winners Screen Actors Guild The 28th (SAG) Awards have been announced at a ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Since SAG focuses on the “individual/group actors” involved in a film, there is no “Best Film” or “Best Screenplay” category that is common in other award ceremonies.
The two main categories of the SAG Awards – Male and Female Actor in a Leading Role– were won by Will Smith and Jessica Chastain. Michael Keaton and Kate Winslet are SAG Awards recipients for their performances in two of the limited series: Hulu’s Dopesick and HBO’s Mare of Easttown. The Male and Female Outstanding Performances in Drama Series award was received by Lee Jung-jae and Jung Jo-yeon of Squid Game for their performance in the Korean series. Academy Award winner Helen Mirren, received the Life Achievement award presented by Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet.
