Andy Lau is one of the actors to watch on Lionsgate Play March 2022

March is a special month for Lionsgate Play subscribers. Apart from Hollywood movies and exclusive series, this month Lionsgate Play also released many Asian films and series with various genres, from martial arts to romantic films.

Series to look forward to this month include “Jugaadistan”, an original series from Lionsgate Play and “Starstruck” an exclusive comedy genre series.

For the film there is a premiere and exclusive Apex, a science fiction film with the main star Bruce Willis.

“Jugaadistan” follows the life stories of college kids in India. From campus politics and moral conflicts to heart and finances “Jugaadistan” offers it all. Director Akarsh Khurana said, “We delve into many issues – campus politics, student dynamics, and side jobs – all of which are important in a person’s life in his youth”.

Another British comedy series also in attendance is “Starstruck” which has run for two seasons. A goofy comedy about a New Zealand woman in her 20s who lives in Hackney, London, working in the cinema and as a babysitter. After a one-night stand on New Year’s Eve, she finds him sleeping with a famous movie star. After that his life changed.

The Hollywood film premiering and exclusive on Lionsgate Play is “Apex”, a sci-fi action film that tells the story of six elite hunters who are paid to hunt a man on a desert island, only to find themselves preyed upon.

Acting as a retired police officer, Bruce Willis’ action in this film is a pity to miss. Other action films that are highly recommended to watch are “American Assassin”, this film starring Dylan O’Brien and Michael Keaton was nominated for Best Fight at the 2018 Taurus World Stunt Awards.

This action thriller is based on Vince Flynn’s 2010 novel of the same name, the story centers on a young CIA member, Mitch Rapp, who helps a Cold War veteran try to stop the explosion of a nuclear weapon.

In addition there is also “Gods of Egypt”, a film studded with stars ranging from Gerard Butler to Chadwick Boseman. This fantasy action film based on Egyptian mythology makes its own alternative by making Set, the god of the desert, become ruler of Egypt after defeating Horus, the god of the air. Bek, a young boy who is a thief then builds a relationship with Horus to bring down Set.

Not only these films, there are also several titles entered as Lionsgate Play’s Library Title in March, namely “Gold”, “Body of Deceit”, “The Lost City Of Z”, and “Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge”

For lovers of Indonesian action actors Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian, both appeared in the Hollywood science fiction action film “Beyond Skyline”. Here they compete acting with Frank Grillo, a Hollywood actor who has played in many big films. “Beyond Skyline” which is part of the “Skyline” franchise has successfully become a cult film with its own fans.

Another sci-fi action film to watch is “Ender’s Game” in which young Ender Wiggin is recruited by the International Military to lead the war against the Formik, a race of insectoid aliens who previously tried to invade Earth and have inflicted heavy losses on humanity. Asa Butterfield plays Ender Wiggin with his Hollywood senior supporting cast of Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, and Viola Davis, with Abigail Breslin and Ben Kingsley.

Another Lionsgate Play mainstay in March is “Lion”, an Oscar-nominated film starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman. In addition there is also “Wish Upon”, a supernatural horror starring Joey King and Ryan Phillipe.

For fans of the series, British sitcom “Motherland” is back with a third season. Tells the story of Julia Johnson, who must pay attention to her children’s school after her mother decides to stop caring for them. Julia who is busy with her work gets to know other parents, Liz who comes from the working class, and Kevin’s father who stays at home. He then finds himself in the world of mothers who are full of competition, including from the very polite but cruel leader, Amanda.

Lionsgate Play is now also more complete with the presence of Asian films and series. The mainstay of the film is the blockbuster “Detective Chinatown 3”, this mystery comedy film is one of the most successful films in Chinese cinema breaking several records including one of the highest opening week wins in a territory in history.

The exclusive film coming to Lionsgate Play in March is “Endgame”, an action comedy film produced and starring Andy Lau. In this film, Andy Lau plays a world-class and cold-blooded assassin who actually only pretends to make fake murders for his victims so that he gets money from those who employ and those who become victims. The film became one of the highest-grossing films in Chinese theaters in 2021.
