FIM, Dorna, and Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) decided to repair the circuit. One of the plans is to resurface the asphalt on some of the tracks.

The repairs will be carried out directly by a large constructor in Indonesia, PT PP. They will work on repairs for a month before the official MotoGP race will be held at this circuit in March.

“At the latest in our schedule, we will finish March 10 or one week (before MotoGP) we have completed. God willing, in two days the heavy equipment will be there. We make sure all work is on schedule,” said PT PP President Director Novel Irsyad in a virtual press conference Wednesday (16/2/2022).

Novel said the repair work would be based on instructions from international consultants who have special standards. He already had his own method of re-paving the track.

The repair did not occur on all tracks. The novel mentions that only 15-17 percent of the total tracks will be re-paved.

“We will exfoliate the top layer of asphalt and we will re-asphalt. Work is not on all the tracks, but only a few,” Novel continued.

“There were problems at some point, but we considered the risks and sustainability. We don’t want to be responsible. Only 15-17 percent of the total track from before turn 17 to after turn 5, “he continued.
