Chasing the Sunset at Tanjung Lesung, Here’s a Snap of the Exotic

The series of events for the Tanjung Lesung Enchantment Festival don’t just stop until the competition Mountain Bike Cross Country just. On Saturday afternoon, September 23 2017, another extreme sports competition was held, namely the sunset trail run.

In that competition, the participants were challenged to complete a distance of 17 kilometers with challenging paths. Among them are hills, forests, and beaches with piles of sand or slippery loose rocks, which stretch along the Tanjung Lesung Beach Club area. Terrain with extreme elevation requires runners to really prepare for the physical condition. Moreover, they face very hot and dry weather.

Participants consisting of the general public and athletes started the race at 15.30. The competition was opened directly by the Head of the Banten Province Tourism Office, Eneng Nurcahyati, and the Managing Director of the Tanjung Lesung SEZ, PT Banten West Java, Rully Lasahido.

On average, participants complete the track within 1 to 2 hours. Former athlete, Suyono, became the fastest runner for the Master Sunset Trail Run class. The 50 year old man reached finish in 1 hour 13 minutes 26 seconds. Meanwhile, the first female runner to make it to the line finish, namely Helda Napitupulu. He managed to carve out a time of 1 hour 34 minutes and 33 seconds.

In another class, that is Open men, Saepul Rahman finished the competition with the fastest time at his level. It reaches finish in 1 hour 5 minutes and 22 seconds. In the classroom Open woman, namely Sri Wulandari, became the first participant to achieve finish at his level in 1 hour 50 minutes and 21 seconds.

Throughout the run, the participants were actually catching up with the sunset. They are racing to reach the point finish before dark. However, there is beauty that can be enjoyed in between fatigue through difficult terrain, namely the landscape of the red sky above the sea and the sun slowly descending to its bed. The runners seemed to be framed in the beauty of Tanjung Lesung. The shadows of these runners form a silhouette, following the path of the sun as it descends toward the sea line.
