Tips to get rid of pimples without squeezing them

Acne will generally heal on its own without treatment. However, to make the healing process go faster, there are some tips you can try, namely:

1. Give a warm compress

Soak a cloth in warm water, then compress the pimple for 10-15 minutes and repeat several times a day. This method can relieve the pain of acne and open up the pores so that the pimple will dry out or burst on its own more easily.

2. Apply acne medication

Another way you can do besides popping pimples is to use acne medication. This method can be a solution so that acne heals faster. Choose acne medications with the active ingredients of benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulfur that are sold over-the-counter at pharmacies.

For more inflamed acne cases, such as large, numerous, and almost all over the face or even to the back, you need to consult a dermatologist first so that you can get the right choice of acne medication and according to your skin condition.

3. Use natural ingredients

To treat acne, you can also use natural ingredients, such as baking soda, tea tree oil, or honey. These ingredients are believed to help acne go away faster.

In addition to using the natural ingredients above, several studies have also shown that extracts of green tea, aloe vera, and seaweed are able to get rid of acne naturally and quickly.

How to Squeeze Pimples Safely

In general, doctors do not advise you to pop your pimples at home. This is because the equipment used is not sterile or the wrong way to squeeze pimples can make acne worse.

However, if you still want to do it, do it with a technique that is safe and with minimal risk of infection or complications. The method is also quite easy, which is enough to pierce the head of the pimple and not squeeze it. Here is the guide:

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and running water.
  • Prepare a needle, such as a sewing needle or pin, and alcohol.
  • Sterilize the needle by rubbing it with alcohol.
  • Pierce the surface of the pimple head with the tip of the needle, but don’t go too deep.
  • Lift the needle to make way for the pus to escape.
  • Cover your hands with a clean tissue or use cotton budthen press both sides of the pimple slowly and gently.
  • When finished, clean the pimple with a face wash and apply a small amount of toner. After that, you can apply an antibacterial ointment to the pimple.
  • Do not use make up or any make-up after piercing a pimple as it can invite bacteria back into the pimple.

Keep in mind that this technique is only applied to purulent acne and not to cystic acne or boils. This technique is also best done after a warm bath or after compressing the pimple with warm water.

Compressing the pimple with warm water can keep the skin moist and open the pores, making it easier to remove the pimple.

After treating or using acne medication, use sunscreen every time you go out, reduce stress, clean your face at least 2 times a day, and avoid using products that can irritate the skin, such as facial soaps containing perfume or alcohol.

No matter how big your desire to pop a pimple, you should avoid doing it. It is better to consult a doctor to get the appropriate treatment for your acne condition.
