Wow! Gensan Punch will be screened and nominated at Busan International Film Festival

Latest HBO Asia Original Movies GENSAN PUNCH coming soon world premiere in the (Competition) section”A Window on Asian Cinema” at the 26th edition of the Busan International Film Festival, ahead of its exclusive screening on HBO GO and HBO in the coming months.

This Filipino-Japanese fusion, using English, Japanese and Tagalog, is also one of seven Asian films to be nominated for the Kim Jiseok Award in Busan. In addition, the film will be screened at the “Gala Selection” (non-Competition) at the 2021 34th Tokyo International Film Festival.

Inspired by the true story of Naozumi Tsuchiyama, GENSAN PUNCH tells the story of a Japanese man with prosthetic legs who goes to the Philippines by train and achieves his dream of becoming a professional boxer. Head to the area known as the Gensan Quarter in General Santos City, which has long been known for producing athletes, including presidential candidate Manny Pacquiao. This film raises the issue of discrimination among persons with disabilities, especially in sports competitions.
