VIVA – A number of criticisms arose regarding the Mandalika Circuit after the MotoGP pre-season test. The racers and teams loved the layout and design of the 4.3km circuit, as well as the safety standards, including the runoff area, very wide gravel.
However, they also complained about the condition of the track being dirty, dusty and even the number of small stones on the track. Asphalt in the Mandalika Circuit is also easy to peel off.
President Director of PP Persero, Novel Arsyad, gave an explanation regarding the cause of peeling asphalt at the Mandalika Circuit. He hopes that this incident will not be repeated in the Indonesian MotoGP on March 20, 2022.

“With this long track, with a fairly thorough work, we may have certain places where the touch is too long, maybe there are parts at the north of bend 1 or 17 that are peeling off, eventually the stones will come off the asphalt,” said Novel.
“This is more of a major occurrence in terms of construction, but it is relatively smaller. We will make repairs that are not half-hearted, don’t let it happen in other areas, we will repair it with the coordination of consultants to make it better. We hope that what happened yesterday will not happen again. Indonesia’s big name in the world, we maximize with the best technology,” he said,
The Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Priandhi Satria added that the cause of the asphalt was peeling off. According to him, this is common in the new circuit.
