VIVA – Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, discusses the ownership of Newcastle United amid the sanctions currently being experienced by his club. He said this after Chelsea beat Newcastle in the 2021/22 Premier League continued, on Sunday night WIB, 13 March 2022.
Chelsea, which was put up for sale earlier this month, face an uncertain period as their owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned for his alleged ties to President Vladimir Putin following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
After the Chelsea versus Newcastle match, Tuchel was asked about the difficulties the Blues are experiencing against the backdrop of Saudi Arabia’s intervention in the civil war in Yemen, as well as the country’s human rights record.
In addition, Tuchel was also asked whether it was strange that Newcastle United, which is 80 per cent owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund after its takeover in October. However, they are in a different situation to Chelsea.
