Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci Join Mafia Mamma . Film Project

Toni Collette (Hereditary, United States of Tara) and Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix Revolutions), is rumored to have joined the new comedy project to be directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen), Mafia Mamma. Besides them, another chord that also joined was Rob Huebel (The Descendents, Children’s Hospital).

Mafia Mamma will be a hilarious comedy that tells the story of a normal suburban American mother, Kristin (Collette), who inherits her family’s Mafia empire in Italy after her grandfather dies. Kristin has been living an unfulfilling life such as dealing with a sexist boss and a son who is very much ready to leave his parents house and go to college. To add to the drama, Kristin has just found out that her musician husband (Huebel) has been having an affair with a fan. He then receives an unexpected phone call from Bianca (Bellucci), who is his grandfather’s most trusted advisor. A surprise call will see Kristin take a sudden, but exciting path to taking over the family business.

Scenario Mafia Mamma written by Debbie Jhoon and Michael J. Feldman who have worked on Deadbeat and AP Bio. The project is expected to begin production in Italy in the spring of 2022. The film will also reunite Chaterine Hardwicke and Toni Collette, who previously worked together on the 2015 comedy Miss You Already, alongside Drew Barrymore (Charlie’s Angels). , 50 First Date) and Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia).

About her role in this mafia-based comedy, Collette said, “I was so excited to make this film with Catherine and the team. It’s a pure, fun story with a strong feminist background. I think we can all handle an uplifting story and laugh out loud like this now!”
