Lionsgate finally released the first teaser trailer for the drama film American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Storystarring Zachary Levi (Shazam!) and Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Dennis Quaid (The Right Stuff). From the trailer that you can view below, we get a preview of the challenges Kurt Warner will have to face before finally getting his chance to become the NFL champion he was destined to be. The film is slated to hit theaters on December 25, 2021, having previously been set to hit theaters on December 10.
Apart from Zachary Levi, Anna Paquin and Dennis Quaid, this film also stars Cindy Hogan, Ser’Darius Blain, Adam Baldwin, Bruce McGill, Danny Vinson, Chance Kelly, Hayden Zaller, Cora Kate Wilkerson, and Nic Harris. American Underdog directed and co-written by Jon and Andrew Erwin (I Can Only Imagine, I Still Believe) with the assistance of David Aaron Cohen (Friday Night Lights) as additional writer.
American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story based on Warner’s memoirs, All Things Possible: My Story of Faith, Football, and First Miracle Season. The Erwin Brothers, Jon Erwin and Andrew Erwin, will direct the film, which is expected to begin production soon.
Prior to being a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion, Kurt Warner was a shelf worker at the grocery store. Warner played football at Regis High School, Cedar Rapids and graduated in 1989. From there, he attended the University of Northern Iowa. When Warner was given the opportunity to start during his senior year, he was named the Gateway Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year.
Kurt Warner went on to play for the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals. In addition to his achievements in the field, Warner is also fond of doing charity work through Civitan International, which focuses on people with disabilities. Warner is also known for her beliefs, which she talks about a lot, especially in her books, so that would be a big part of American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story.
