These 5 Korean Dramas Raise the Issue of Juvenile Delinquency

Bullying is a sensitive issue in South Korea. This problem, which often enters the realm of juvenile delinquency, often occurs among local school children. As a result, many of these sensitive issues have been made into stories in Korean dramas. One of the newest is Juvenile Justice.

1. Who Are You: School 2015 (2015)

The first drama is Who Are You: School 2015 who raised the issue bullying high school students in Korea. It is said, Lee Eun Bi and Go Eun Byul, both played by Kim So Hyun, are separate twins. Eun Bi lives in an orphanage and Eun Byul is adopted by a rich family. However, an incident causes Eun Bi to disguise herself as her sister.

During the exchange, Eun Byul found out that the younger brother was the victim bullying at school. Eun Bi herself is a typical patient girl and does not fight when shebully. Unlike Eun Byul, she is very brave and doesn’t stay silent when others try to harm her.

2. Angry Mom (2015)

Angry Mom raised the same issue with drama Who Are You: School 2015, that is bullying. It is said, Jo Gang Ja (Kim Hee Seon) is the mother of Oh A Ran (Kim You Jung) who is now in high school. Gang Ja is pregnant in her teens so it seems that the two are not too far apart in age.

Later, Gang Ja finds out that his daughter was the victim bullying at school. Not wanting to stay silent, she disguised herself as a student to protect her daughter from the perpetrators. Apart from issues bullyingthis drama also raises another sensitive issue, namely the corruption of school construction funds.

Class of Lies is an interesting drama to follow if you like crime stories that are presented in a different way. Ki Moo Hyeok (Yoon Gyun Sang) is an elite lawyer who has never lost in court. One day he is asked to investigate a murder case that occurred at school.

He is known as “Uncle”, the head of the prostitution business. His job is to give direction to Lee Wang Chul (Choi Min Soo) otherwise known as Mr. Lee to run the business. After the transaction, Mr. Lee will put the money earned in a locker. The business was running smoothly until someone started to get suspicious.

5. Juvenile Justice (2022)

Juvenile Justice is a drama that is being hotly discussed, because this drama raises the issue of unusual juvenile crime. Shim Eun Seok (Kim Hye Soo) is a female judge with a cold personality. He was appointed as the new judge of the juvenile court.

Shim Eun Seok himself hates teenagers so much because he was a victim of crime as a teenager. He tried to professionally give justice to the perpetrators of the crimes who were still teenagers. On the one hand, juvenile crime cannot be justified, but on the other hand they are also protected because they are underage.

Judging teenagers is certainly not an easy thing, when they commit crimes, they also get legal protection as minors.
