TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The British government will fund its citizens who are willing to accommodate refugees from Ukraine.
Reported Reutersthe UK created a refugee acceptance scheme called ‘Homes for Ukraine’, where the victims of the Russian invasion were free to come to the UK to live.
The government will provide 350 pounds (Rp 6.5 million) per month for residents who want to accommodate them or offer their property for a minimum period of six months.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson sought to portray Britain as the leader of the global response to the Russian invasion.

Lawmakers from all major political parties have criticized the government’s policy of requiring Ukrainians to seek visas and biometric tests before arriving in the UK.
This rule is considered to prioritize the bureaucracy over the welfare of refugees.
Under the new scheme, communities, charities, businesses and community groups can offer accommodation via the website by the end of next week, the government said on Sunday (13/3/2022).
“The UK stands behind Ukraine in their darkest hour and the British public understands the need to save as many people as possible as quickly as possible,” Michael Gove, Minister for Housing, said in a statement.
“I urge people across the country to join in the national effort and offer support to our Ukrainian friends.”
