The track is complete, the Mandalika circuit is claimed to be safe for holding a MotoGP race

VIVA – MGPA President Director, Priandhi Satria, stated that the Mandalika Circuit (Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit) was ready to hold the Mandalika MotoGP race on March 18-20, 2022. This was shown by the re-paving process which had been completed since March 10.

At the beginning of this week, the circuit of the pride of the country will be examined by the FIM (International Motorcycle Sports Federation). MGPA (Mandalika Grand Prix Association) anticipates that grade A homologation will be given before the race weekend starts.

The President Director of MGPA, Priandhi Satria, said that the re-paving work was a testament to the commitment of ITDC and MGPA to provide the best for Indonesia.

Dorna and the FIM actually only suggested improvements in some of the corners of the 4.31 km track. “However, due to sufficient time, PT Pembangunan Perumahan carried out a re-peeling of the asphalt from after Turn 16 to Turn 5,” said Priandhi in an official press statement received by MGPA. VIVAMonday 14 March 2022.

“Now the track looks much better. The granules are larger and denser. The FIM will come today or tomorrow. The track will be seen by the safety officer for the homologation process,” he continued.

Priandhi said MGPA had several challenges in the construction of this Mandalika Circuit track. One of them is in anticipating the speed of the racers.
