Currently Snowdrop has aired as many as 11 episodes. There are still five episodes left before the Korean drama BLACKPINK Jisoo and Jung Hae In ends.
Entering the final episodes, JTBC announced that it would broadcast the last 2 episodes of Snowdrop on the same day. The drama was supposed to end on February 5, 2022, but this change means Snowdrop will end on January 30, 2022.
“Snowdrop will air episodes 15 and 16 on the same day, on January 30, 2022 starting at 22:00 (South Korean time),” said the TV station.
One of the Snowdrop production teams also revealed the reason. The changes were made in honor of the Lunar New Year which falls on February 1, 2022.
A number of TV stations in South Korea are known to always change their program schedule when the new year arrives.
Snowdrop is a Korean drama set in 1987. Im Soo Ho (Jung Hae In) and Eun Young Ro (Jisoo) are students at a prestigious university in Seoul.
One day, Soo Ho suddenly walks into the girls’ dormitory covered in blood. Eun Young Ro hides him and treats his wound despite the dangers under close supervision.
Previously, this drama was controversial because it was suspected of distorting history. Snowdrop was also faced with a petition to stop the broadcast, which has been signed by more than 200,000 people.
Based on the petition submitted to the Blue House, one of the scenes involving the female lead is considered to deviate from history.
The female lead was thought to be wrong when she saved spies from the pro-democracy movement. The spy is the male lead.
In addition, the petition also discusses the song played in one of the scenes. One male supporting actor from the National Security Planning Agency is said to be chasing a spy.
In the Snowdrop scene, a historic song that symbolizes the pro-democracy movement is played. This seems to make some netizens uncomfortable.
