VIVA – The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team will take advantage of the MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit on 11-13 February, to confirm the results of the test at Sepang this weekend and determine their direction at the start of the season.
Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli had two productive days at Sepang testing the YZR-M1 bike and the various new components they brought with them.
On the final day of the Sepang test, Quartararo posted a best time of 1:58.313 to finish in seventh place 0.182 seconds off session leader Enea Bastianini of the Gresini Ducati team. Meanwhile, Morbidelli is still struggling with a knee injury and finished P24 that day.
“Two days of testing after the riders haven’t touched the bike for two months, maybe it’s not enough,” said Monster Energy Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli in the official website on Sunday.
“Luckily, we are now heading to Indonesia, where of course the tests will be more productive,” he said.
During two days at Sepang, Yamaha tested two different chassis specifications and aerodynamic components.
