Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service provider, has announced a partnership with Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto for a new film titled The Big Four, which is set to premiere in 2022.
Malobika Banerji, Netflix Director of Content, Southeast Asia, stated, “We are delighted to be working with Timo, a talented and visionary director who produces amazing works. We believe Timo will tell a story that is very Indonesian but also universal.”
Timo Tjahjanto stated, “I am proud to have had the opportunity to share this new story with the whole world. With my experience working with Netflix to take my work to a global level, I’m really excited to start this new project.”
Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes for Us is the first Indonesian Netflix Original film to be aired in 2018. Starring Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais, Julie Estelle and Zack Lee, among others, this film is about an elite assassin who is targeted by a gangster organization. after he saved a little girl from death.
Since first operating in Indonesia in 2016, Netflix has collaborated with various creative communities in this country. Malobika adds, “We are always trying to explore stories from around the world and present them for users to enhance their experience. We look forward to working with more storytellers from Indonesia to share their perspectives with the world.”
