Strengthened by Euro stars, the Spanish National Team Goes to the Tokyo Olympics

INDOSPORT.COM – The Spanish national team featuring Euro 2020 stars has reportedly arrived in Kobe on Thursday (15/07/21) for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Report from sports diary, reported Football Espanathe Spain U-23 national team arrived in Japan after being a day late due to a last-minute mechanical problem on their plane.

They finally landed in Kobe at 09.38 local time in Japan or at 07.38 am WIB after traveling by air for 16 hours.

Arriving in Kobe, Luis de la Fuente’s national team consisting of 22 players will immediately be their first training session ahead of the Tokyo Olympics today.

The Spain U-23 (U-24) squad for the first time in Olympic history left with a force of 22 players. Interestingly, six of them had defended the senior national team at the Euro 2020 event some time ago.

The six players, namely Unai Simon, Eric Garcia, Pau Torres, Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal and the tournament’s youngest player, Pedri, led La Roja to the semifinals of Euro 2021.

However, their pursuit of the title was thwarted by Italy, who beat them after a 2-4 penalty shoot-out after the semi-finals ended in a 1-1 draw.

After completing Euro 2020, these six players then joined other members of the U-24 national team who had just completed a 13-day training camp in Alicante.

The Spanish U-23 national team arrived in Banda Kansai, and immediately carried out a medical and goods check (COVID-19) before heading to the hotel to rest and continue with the training session.
