Good news for fans Final Destinationbecause the 6th film of this franchise has finally found a new home in HBO Max. The development of the latest film in the franchise was actually announced in 2019, but due to the pandemic they had to put those plans on hold for quite some time, and now, according to a report from DeadlineHBO Max has decided to bring the project to life, bringing Jon Wattsdirector Spider-Man: No Way Home, to produce the film. Watts’ wife and partner, Dianne McGunigle, will also produce along with Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor.

Watts is reported to have developed a concept for the new film, and the screenplay is currently being written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick, who also wrote the latest Scream and Ready or Not. The film appears to be a special project for Watts and McGunigle, with Watts sharing the following statement:

Both Dianne and I were huge Final Destination fans from the start. So, to be able to take part in crafting a new story with the original team and New Line will be fun and exciting.

As we know, all movies Final Destination has the same plot structure: A small group of people manage to avoid an inevitable death when one of them, the protagonist, gets a sudden premonition of impending doom. This person managed to save some of those who were destined to die as a result of the disaster that ended up killing many people. But as they avoid their pre-scheduled deaths, the survivors begin to be killed one by one in a series of bizarre accidents, based on a complicated chain of cause and effect, caused by the Angel of Death himself.

Final Destination proved to be a cornerstone for New Line’s horror business in the early 2000s. The first film, released in 2000, presented a concept of the main character having a premonition of a terrifying and deadly event, cheated his own death and saved several other lives in the process, only to end up with his own “death” chasing them one by one. .

There has been no further announcement on who will direct or star in the film. Even though some of the sequels are pretty cheesy, filmmaking technology has come a long way since the last time we saw the movie Final Destination. With all the modern tools at their disposal, Watts and the creative team should be able to provide a great experience with Final Destination 6.
