According to reports from The Hollywood Reportermovie Eternals The newly released Marvel Studios franchise will definitely not be showing in theaters in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Qatar, as those countries have banned the screening of the film in their countries.

It was said in the report that the film Eternals was met with multiple editing requests by local censorship bodies in those countries, and Disney was reportedly unwilling to do so, and the result was that the film was either withdrawn or banned by all three of the above countries. However, the United Arab Emirates is still showing the film, as it is currently listed on various local cinema websites.

According to the report, it’s not clear exactly why the film was apparently banned, but reliable sources seem to point to the inclusion of same-sex couples involving LGBT in Eternals as one of the major censorship issues the film may have. In the film, Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) and her husband Ben (Haaz Sleiman) perform a kissing scene. Due to how LGBTQ+ issues and representations are often censored in some parts of the world, it is believed that Eternals are working on the same issue.
