Russia and Ukraine Conflict, Defense Minister Prabowo Urges Both Parties to Immediately Dialogue

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, conveyed Indonesia’s position regarding the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia did not state its side with any of the countries, be it Ukraine or Russia.

Indonesia, Prabowo explained, is trying to stay in a neutral position.

On the other hand, Indonesia hopes that the two countries involved in this conflict can immediately take the path of peace through dialogue.

This statement was made by Prabowo in a press conference when he met with the Minister of National Defense of Greece, Nikolaos Panagiotopoulo, in the city of Athens, Greece, Friday (11/3/2022).

“We urge all parties to the Ukraine situation to immediately start a peaceful dialogue and resolve this issue immediately.”

“This is our position, we certainly hope and pray for the creation of a peaceful situation in the Ukraine crisis,” Prabowo said, quoted on Kompas TV, Monday (14/3/2022).

Previously, on Friday (25/2/2022), Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement addressing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The following is the contents of the five-point statement delivered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict:

1. Respect for the purposes and principles of the United Nations charter and international law, including respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, is essential.
