VIVA – Indonesian football has been tarnished again by unsportsmanlike actions that indicate the emergence of elephant football. It happened in League 3.

The unsportsmanlike moment was recorded in the PS Siak versus Serpong City FC match in Liga 3 continued, Sunday, March 13, 2022. One of the PS Siak players, allegedly Bruno Casimir, showed an unfair play attitude.

He deliberately let the ball roll so that it was grabbed by a Serpong City player who easily scored. The duel itself ended with Serpong City’s 4-1 victory.

From this incident, there were indications that PS Siak had deliberately abandoned the match in order to help Serpong City, which really needs a lot of goals, to qualify for the semifinals of League 3.

The action turned out to be viral on social media and made Bruno Casimir’s name suddenly trending. This condition further shows the dilapidation of football matches in League 3 which incidentally is an amateur competition.

Responding to this situation, the General Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, also moved quickly to eradicate elephant football. He ordered the PSSI Disciplinary Commission to immediately investigate this viral case.

“I immediately sent an order to the Komdis to investigate Bruno during the PS Siak match with Serpong City. We will wait for the development together,” said Iriawan when met at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, Monday, March 14, 2022.
