VIVA – Deputy Chairperson of PB PRSI, Harlin E. Rahardjo, stated that the Indonesian swimming training team was prepared to take part in the swimming championship in Singapore in mid-March 2022 as a trial ahead of the 2022 Vietnam SEA Games.

The championship is titled Singapore National Age Group (SNAG) which is planned to take place in Singapore on 17-21 March 2022. Prior to Singapore, PB PRSI will hold a final selection to determine the athletes who will defend Indonesia at the SEA Games Vietnam 2022.

Harlin said that this trial was deemed necessary to familiarize athletes with the competitive atmosphere. In addition, to build a competitive mentality.

“So we plan to have a final selection, that’s what we will do to determine the team that will go to Hanoi. We plan to also participate in the championship in Singapore, next March. If possible, that’s the plan we will follow,” said Harlin to journalists at the GBK Aquatic Stadium, Monday 21 February 2022.

Regarding the target at the Vietnam SEA Games, Harlin emphasized that he could not say it clearly. To be sure, he wants to be better than the previous edition where Indonesia only won one gold medal from Siman Sudartawa.

“I definitely want to be better than the previous SEA Games in the Philippines. Actually, there are many opportunities that can be used because there are several excellent swimmers from other countries who are conscripted or retired. And we must take advantage of that,” he explained.
