President Jokowi’s Comments After the Indonesian Badminton Team Prints History at BATC

VIVA – The Indonesian women’s badminton team won the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) for the first time.

The Red and White flag flutters to the accompaniment of the Indonesia Raya anthem at the championship event in Selangor, Malaysia, Sunday, February 20, 2022.

The title was confirmed after Nita Violina Marwah closed the women’s doubles match with a hard smash. Nita who was paired with Lanny Tria Mayasari managed to win from the South Korean pair Kum Min Ji / Park Min Jeong with a score of 23-21, 21-11. The 34-minute match made Indonesia win 3-1 over South Korea.

Previously, the Indonesian badminton team won points through the women’s singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, who won two games from Sim Yujin with a score of 21-9, 21-10. One more point was presented by the women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, who defeated Lee Se Yeon in two straight games with a score of 21-10, 21-18.

Indonesia lost 1 point when Febriana D Kusuma/ Amalia Pratiwi lost to Baek Ha Na/ Seong Seung Yeon in three games, 15-21, 21-14, 14-21.

Congratulations poured in for these Indonesian sports heroes. One of them is from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“Indonesian women’s badminton heroes made history by winning the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships, in Selangor, Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Indonesian men’s team finished runner-up. From the country, I congratulate you,” Jokowi wrote on his Twitter account.
