VIVA – Two Indonesian representatives in the mixed doubles sector, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja were forced to withdraw from the 2022 BWF World Tour Super 300 German Open. The pair who took the professional route tested positive for COVID-19.

Chairman of PB Djarum Yoppy Rosimin announced the news through the official website of PB Djarum, Saturday. He said both mixed doubles pairs were in good condition despite being exposed to the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the coach Vita Marissa, who was planning to accompany the players, tested negative for COVID-19.

“Four players tested positive for COVID-19 on tests before departure. All of them are in good condition and without symptoms. Right now we are focusing on their recovery process first,” said Yoppy.

The resignation of Praveen/Melati turned out to be beneficial for other Indonesian representatives in the mixed doubles sector. Supposedly, Adnan Maulana / Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso faced his senior in the first round of the German Open 2022.

Adnan/Mychelle have finally made it through to the last 16 without breaking a sweat. They are just waiting for the winner of the duel Mikkel Mikkelsen/Rikke Soby Hansen (Denmark) vs Mark Lamfuss/Isabel Lohau (Germany).
