Positive for COVID-19, Praveen/Melati cancels appearances at German Open 2022

VIVA – Mixed doubles Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja canceled their appearance in the 2022 Super 300 badminton championship at Westenergie Sporthalle after testing positive for COVID-19 ahead of their departure to Germany, Friday 4 March 2022.

Chairman of PB Djarum Yoppy Rosimin announced the news through the official website of PB Djarum, Saturday. He said both mixed doubles pairs were in good condition despite being exposed to the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the coach, Vita Marissa, who was planning to accompany the players, tested negative for COVID-19.

“Four players tested positive for COVID-19 on tests before departure. All of them are in good condition and without symptoms. Right now we are focusing on their recovery process first,” said Yoppy.

PB Djarum originally planned to send Praveen/Melati and Dejan/Gloria to compete in three European tournaments, starting from the Super 300 German Open (8-13 March), Super 1000 All England Open (16-20 March), and the Super 300 Swiss Open (22 March). -27 March).

However, for the time being, a new cancellation has been made for the German Open. Two other tournaments are planned to continue as scheduled.

“Right now we are still watching the progress. If the next 3-7 days are negative, they will go straight to All England and Switzerland. I hope the players stay motivated and don’t give up. The most important thing now is that they can recover first,” added Yoppy.
