VIVA – Honda’s Pol Espargaro sparkles on the first day of the MotoGP test at Mandalika, Friday 11 February 2022.
Down in 69 laps, he managed to score the fastest time of 1 minute 32.466 seconds. The best performance was made by Pol on lap 68.
While in second place was Pol’s brother, Aleix Espargaro who defended Aprilia Racing. He only left a record time of 0.471 seconds.
Aleix himself passed 60 laps of the Mandalika circuit. While the best performance was made on lap 59.
Completing the top five positions are Brad Binder, Alex Rins, then Fabio Quartararo. In this test session, Pol apparently managed to break the record for the fastest lap in Mandalika.
He won Toprak Razgatlioglu who made a record at the WSBK event last year. Toprak had the fastest lap of 1 minute 32.877 seconds which was recorded during the last qualifying round.
On the first day of this session had experienced disturbances. The test was stopped when it had only been running for an hour and a half. The committee raised the red flag or red flag because the track was dirty.
