Yes, as is known, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik received a target load to penetrate the semifinals in every badminton tournament that was followed in 2022.

The target was set by BAM to address the inconsistency of the game shown by the bronze medal winner at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Because after brilliantly at the Tokyo Olympics on July 24 – August 2, 2021, Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik only managed to reach the semifinals 2 times out of 7 matches that were followed.

“We have to find out why they are not consistent. At their level, they can’t be like this. Even if it’s a habit, you shouldn’t go too far,” said Rexy Mainaky.

Most recently, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik again appeared inconsistent in the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC).

Although the Malaysian men’s team team emerged as champions, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik had lost to Japan’s men’s doubles, ranked 857th in the world, Ayato Endo/Yuta Takei in the preliminary round of Group B.

After a series of minor results, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik had a heart-to-heart talk with the coaches at BAM, including the head coach of the doubles sector, Rexy Mainaky. This was done ahead of the German Open 2022 tournament.
