Peacemaker Season 2 Official Announced, James Gunn Will Write and Direct All Episodes

James Gunn looks like it will stay busy and involved in the DC Extended Universe. Gunn previously stated that there was a “very good chance” for a second season Peacemaker now got what he wanted. HBO Max have announced that they will be continuing the critically acclaimed and fan-loved Peacemaker series for a second season. Series, written by James Gunn and starring John Cena it is the first spin-off tv series set in the DCEU and has been a huge success.

Not only the star, John Cena will be back for Peacemaker Season 2, but Gunn will direct and write all the episodes. But for now, there are no details about this new season or when it will premiere.

Peacemaker is a spin-off of The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn. Although the film was a success and Cena’s character was a fan favorite, the series was actually announced and produced before the film’s release. Peacemaker follows the mission of the anti-hero (Cena) after the events at the end The Suicide Squad.

The first season saw Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee reprising their roles from The Suicide Squad alongside Cena and introducing Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Robert Patrick to the DCEU. Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the first season himself and directed five episodes. Meanwhile, the other cast members of this series are Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christopher Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels, Supernatural), Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Goliath), Nhut Le ( The Kroll Show) as Judomaster, Aison Araya (Arrow) as Amber, and Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie) as Evan.

For information, Peacemaker is a character created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette and first appeared in the Fightin ‘5 comic series which was originally owned by Charlton Comics. He is a man who believes in peace at all costs – no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The first incarnation of the Peacemaker was Christopher Smith, a pacifist diplomat and son of a Nazi death camp commander who founded the Pax Institute to fight dictators and warlords.
