VIVA – The All-Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has announced 88 athletes who will enter the 2022 national training, on Friday, January 28, 2022.

However, the list did not include Praveen Jordan’s name, Melati Daeva Oktavianti. The exclusion of Praveen/Melati from the national training squad certainly raises a question mark.

This is because the duo has been Indonesia’s mainstay in the international arena. Praveen/Melati also managed to win the All England in 2020.

In this regard, mixed doubles head coach Nova Widianto also revealed the reason for the exclusion of Praveen/Melati.

Nova Widianto admits that Praveen/Melati are currently the best mixed doubles in Indonesia. However, there are other parameters that make them thrown from the national training.

“For Praveen / Melati, they are still the best in national training. However, in the last 1-2 years, because they have won the All England, PBSI hopes that they will be stable and continue to win,” Nova said in a virtual press conference session.

“It turns out that within 1-2 years, after All England the results were not satisfactory. We agreed, especially in the mixed doubles, there must be regeneration. They have also been in the national training for a long time,” said Nova.
