Our Flag Means Death is a unique (very) loose new comedy based on the true adventures of a pirate in the 18th century, Stede Bonnet, played by Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level).
After exchanging a seemingly enchanting life for one of the brave pirates, Stede becomes the captain of the pirate ship Revenge. Struggling to earn the respect of a rebellious crew, Stede’s fate changes after a fateful encounter with Captain Blackbeard, played by Waititi. Stede and his crew try to unite their ship and survive on the high seas.
Our Flag Means Death with Academy Award®-winning executive producer Waititi, who also directed the pilot episode, alongside showrunner David Jenkins, Emmy®-nominated producer Garrett Basch, and Dan Halsted.
Apart from Darby and Waititi, a number of stars who play a role in this series include Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Matt Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, Guz Khan, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, Samba Schutte, Nat Faxon, Fred Armisen and Leslie Jones.
