Sony Pictures has finally released the latest trailer for the film Morbius, starring Oscar winner Jared Leto as main protagonist Michael Morbius also known as the Living Vampire. This trailer features many new trailers or scenes that highlight Leto’s transformation and his inner dilemma of choosing between being a hero or a villain. The promo also continues to tease its relationship with other Spider-Man films by referencing Venom and revealing a new look at Michael Keaton’s return as Vulture.
If the previous trailer focused more on the existence of Morbius before his transformation, this latest trailer gives more of how Leto’s appearance as a super vampire looks like. There are several scenes of Morbius going wild, and being hunted by the authorities and the news media (in this case the Daily Bugle). Interestingly, the trailer also hints at the larger world being built around this Spider-Man villain. Seen Michael Keaton popping up briefly and saying that he and Morbius should “keep in touch,” and even a small joke at the end of the trailer, where he claims to be Venom. The bottom line is that this new trailer focuses more on the more wild and unpredictable side of the vampire.
The film is slated to hit theaters on January 28, 2022 which will put him in a “fight” with the film Scream new, Transylvania Hotels: Transformiaand The 355 in the same month.
Morbius will be starring Jared Leto along with Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona (Good Omens, Pacific Rim: Uprising) as Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris (The Crown) as Morbius’ mentor, and Tyrese Gibson (Fast and the Furious) as an FBI agent.
Based on the Marvel comics, this film is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House) with a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Gods of Egypt). The film itself will be horror-themed and tells the story of a scientist who tries to find a cure for a rare disease that is in his blood. But inadvertently he turned into a Vampire who then “devoured” the criminals.
In the comics, Morbius tells the story of a scientist named Michael Morbius who is looking for a cure for a rare blood disease, but in the process he has an accident and undergoes the process of becoming a vampire. He becomes bloodthirsty and has superhuman powers. Even so the victims who are bitten do not become vampires like what if they were bitten or sucked by the real vampire’s blood. This character first appeared in comics “Amazing Spider-Man” #101 (1971). In the comics, he has been the enemy of Spider-Man several times even though in the end he became an anti-hero.
