Ahead of the series premiere Moon Knight courtesy of Marvel at the end of this month, Disney+ decided to release a new promo clip featuring the three main cast members talking about the new superhero who will be making his MCU debut this March 30th. In addition, they also presented three unique posters showing the main characters of the series with their various “changes.” This series stars Oscar Isaac as, Marc Spector/Steven Grant, a man who deals with dissociative identity disorder (DID) while also serving as “home” to the ancient Egyptian moon god.
In the promo clip, Isaac reveals that Moon Knight would be a “legitimate character study”, suggesting that the series would focus more on internal conflicts than the bigger picture within the MCU. Isaac also revealed that the mental aspects of the character will be taken “very seriously”. Meanwhile, Ethan Hawke, who plays the series’ villain, Dr. Arthur Harrow, shared his excitement to unveil a new world different from what we are used to seeing in Marvel films and TV series, and stated that “every aspect of this show has a duality”. May Calamawy, who plays Layla El-Faouly, described Moon Knight as a cross between Fight Club and Indiana Jones, which is a strange combination but underscores two aspects we’ve hoped will play into the story: the adventure and the protagonist struggling with identity. Producer Kevin Feige and series director Mohamed Diab are also present in the clip to reveal the different feel and look of the upcoming series.
As for the poster, the first features Oscar Isaac as the focus, without his superhero mask. However, it is unknown which character is in the poster — Marc Spector, Steven Grant, or another alter. The second poster highlights Moon Knight himself, standing ready for battle, wielding one of the character’s classic scythes. The third poster highlights Mr. Knight, a fan-favorite alter who tends to be a bit more reserved than Moon Knight, and fights crime as a detective rather than a vigilante in his comics.
Here is the official synopsis of Moon Knight:
The series follows the adventures of Steven Grant, a polite gift shop employee, who is plagued with darkness and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. When adversaries Steven/Marc meet them, they must navigate their complex identities while plunging into a deadly mystery among Egypt’s mightiest gods. ”
The series is produced by the Marvel mogul, Kevin Feige. Episodes of the series will be directed by Justin Benson, Mohamed Diab, and Aaron Moorhead.
