VIVA – The Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) continues to promote the National Sports Grand Design to all corners of the country. The reason is, DBON was created with the aim of being a factory of achievement for Indonesian sports.
However, its implementation must still be monitored. That’s where the presence of the media is needed as a social control in addition to providing information.
Therefore, the National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Sports Journalists Section (SIWO) of PWI in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, which is adjacent to the National Press Day, also discussed efforts to oversee and supervise the implementation of DBON.
DBON is the flagship program of the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is expected to be able to break the deadlock regarding national sports achievements at the world level. The reason is, so far only a handful of sports have implemented the program, one of which is badminton and weightlifting.
Through DBON, the Government has created a factory for athletes with a target to excel in the Olympics.
“SIWO must have a role in DBON, as a supervisory board. This is a golden moment for SIWO to be able to play a role in supporting Indonesian sports to become more successful,” said Mahfudin Nigara, Special Staff for Sports Development and Achievement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Mahfudin Nigara, who is also a member of the PWI advisory board, said that SIWO’s support could not only be given through writings and news distributed to the public, but also in the form of overseeing local government policies in developing sports.
