VIVA – The Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, met with the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali. During the meeting, the former Kostrad Commander reported on the latest developments in preparation for the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) and on sports in North Sumatra.
In the meeting which took place at the Kemenpora Office, Jakarta, Thursday 10 February 2022, Governor Edy conveyed the results of the decision to divide which sports branches will be competed in the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 PON.
The former Pangdam I Bukit Barisan also explained about the readiness of North Sumatra athletes who will compete in PON. According to him, the athlete’s preparation has reached 40 percent. Including, coaching athletes are also reported. According to Edy, the quantity and quality of athletes must be obtained simultaneously.
“So far, we have competed, but let alone the quality, the quantity of athletes has not been fulfilled, now we hope that with our population of 270 million, let alone quality, quantity must be obtained,” said Governor Edy.
In addition, the coaching of referees was also discussed at the meeting. According to Edy, with referee coaching, sportsmanship will increase.
“Including infrastructure, this is one of the things we convey,” said Edy.
