Filled with exciting action with a touch of emotion and MCU-style humor, this film will tell the beginning of the story of Shang-Chi that has never been known before. Starring by Simu Liu as Shang-Chi along with other well-known actors and actresses such as Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony LeungMarvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” releases in Indonesian cinemas starting 22 September 2021.
Shang-Chi is one of the newest characters to enter the MCU in this fourth phase. The character Shang-Chi himself, was created by Marvel Comics in the 1970s. The Marvel creative team led by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz felt both interested and challenged when they saw the stories and characters in the comics. The two then decided to pick up the story of the Shang-Chi character with a fresh new twist to keep it relevant.
In this film, the character of Shang-Chi is depicted as a person who has a direct relationship with the Ten Rings organization, a mysterious organization that was previously involved in the kidnapping of Tony Stark in the first “Iron Man” film. The figure behind the organization was finally revealed and became known as The Mandarin in the film “Iron Man 3” which was released in 2013. However, at the end of the film, fans were surprised by the fact that The Mandarin was just a fake character played by a paid actor named Trevor. Slattery. Through this film, the audience will be invited to look back at the history and the real figure behind the Ten Rings organization, namely Xu Wenwu, who is Shang-Chi’s father.
The story of Shang-Chi in this film begins when his quiet life in San Francisco is disturbed by a group of assassins who are trying to steal a locket that his late mother gave him. The attack forces Shang-Chi and her best friend, Katy, to leave their lives in San Francisco and head to Macau to meet Shang-Chi’s sister, Xialing, to warn her of the impending threat. Along his journey, Shang-Chi must return to face the past he has left behind for a long time. When he re-enters the circle of the mysterious Ten Rings organization, he realizes that he must stop his father immediately.
“What makes this story interesting is the complex relationship between a father who trains his son to be an assassin, and when his son grows up, he must fight against him.
