VIVA – Indonesia continues to improve ahead of hosting the Mandalika MotoGP on March 18-20. Most recently, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) as the promoter of the Mandalika MotoGP has re-paved the Mandalika Circuit (Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit) which is targeted for completion on March 10, 2022.

President Director of MGPA, Priandhi Satria said the process of revamping the track began today. Prior to paving, the track has been peeled and cleaned. The goal is to keep the surface clean, so that when re-paved it can stick together and reduce the risk of damage in the future.

“Today, there has been a simulation or trial of chemical binder mixed with asphalt and gravel. Then the asphalting will be carried out on March 4-8. While the painting will be carried out on March 9,” said Priandhi in a press statement received by MGPA. VIVA.

Priandhi also emphasized that the target for the completion of the re-paving of the Mandalika Circuit would be completed no later than March 10. “But we hope everything is completed before the target,” added Priandhi.

In the process, MGPA continues to coordinate with a number of parties such as the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Pembangunan Jaya, Housing Development, consultants from within and outside the country, including Dorna Sports and FIM. So that all the repairs made can run well and be completed before the race takes place.

The Mandalika Circuit track must be re-paved according to the results of the evaluation when it hosted the pre-season test on 11-13 February. In response to this, the MGPA immediately moved quickly to fix the track according to the recommendations from the FIM and Dorna Sports. The parts that must be re-paved include before bend 17 to after bend 5.
