VIVA – The second race of the first round of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) 2022 at the Losail International Circuit Qatar, Sunday 6 March 2022, was run under better weather than the first race. Four Indonesian racers who were supported by Astra Honda Motor managed to finish the race which took place in 14 laps.
Veda Ega Pratama started the race well and stayed in front until finally finishing in 3rd position. The other three drivers, namely Muhammad Diandra Trihardika, Aan Riswanto, and Reykat Yusuf Fadillah, finished 11th, 13th and 14th respectively.
Veda made a good start from 7th position. He stayed in the front group and competed for first place. On lap 4, Veda even had time to lead the race. He continued to hold on to the top three positions, but had almost fallen and was shifted to eighth. By the end of the 10th lap he was back on the podium.
This 13-year-old racer finally finished in 3rd position and recorded his first podium at the IATC. This result is a perfect redemption after in the first race he failed to finish due to a fall.
“It was an extraordinary race. Learning from yesterday’s first race, I tried to stay calm to stay in the front row. I am very happy that I managed to get a red podium in this second race,” said Veda in a release received by VIVA.
“Thank you to PT Astra Honda Motor, family, and racing lovers in Indonesia. Hopefully this podium capital will be a good start for my motivation to perform even better in the next round,” he continued.
