After recently getting MCU star Simu Lui to join the live-action film project Barbie, now the Warner Bros. back to get additional “ammo” new. According to a recent report from Deadline, Kate McKinnon is the latest star to join this film project. McKinnon will join Liu, America Ferrera, Ryan Gosling as Ken, and Margot Robbie in the main cast. Like Ferrera and Liu, McKinnon’s role remains a mystery today.
Barbie will reunite Margot Robbie with Kate McKinnon after they previously worked together on the 2019 drama Bombshell. McKinnon himself is best known for his appearance on Saturday Night Live where he has been a cast member on the popular sketch comedy show since 2012. will reunite with Ryan Gosling after previously being involved with SNL. MckKnnon will next be seen as Carole Baskin in the series Joe vs. Carole which premieres next month on Peacock.
The film is directed by Greta Gerwig based on a script she wrote with her longtime partner, Noah Buambach. The film itself will be based on the back story of the popular doll. Barbie production is expected to begin in early 2022 at Warner Brothers’ Leavesden Studios in London, and is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2023.
