VIVA – Competition in the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships is getting fiercer. Today, the semi-finals are smoldering.
Without breaking a sweat, the Indonesian women’s badminton team won tickets to the top party, aka the final. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung et al, to the final without a match after his opponent, Japan withdrew.
According to the schedule, the semifinal match between Indonesia and Japan will actually take place on Saturday morning 19 February. But unfortunately, the match which was ready to take place at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, was canceled.
As stated by Badminton Asia, the Japanese women’s team withdrew from this championship. The reason is that the player from the State of Sakura is not fit to compete.
The information regarding Japan’s withdrawal was received by the Indonesian team in the morning while on the bus ride from the Sunway Pyramid Hotel to the stadium. The team was very welcoming.
“We express our gratitude on this sunny morning that we received encouraging news, we escaped without breaking a sweat after the Japanese team withdrew. Even though we had gathered last night and asked the players, they answered that they were ready to fight it out to contribute points,” said Herli Djaenudin, the women’s singles coach, as stated in a written statement from PBSI.
“Alhamdulillah, we must be grateful for this result. We are given the convenience of being able to qualify for the final without a match. The children are actually ready to fight and the condition of the players is also healthy and ready mentally and physically,” said Prasetyo Restu Basuki, the women’s doubles coach.
