VIVA – Sad news came from the world of Indonesian boxing, the national boxer Hero Purwanto aka Hero Tito passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2022.
Previously, Hero Tito underwent treatment after competing against James Mokoginta in the National event at Hollywings Gatsu Night Club, Jakarta on Sunday 27 February 2022. It was a duel for the Indonesian Boxing Association (ATI) lightweight belt at the Holywings Sport Show.
The hero fell after receiving consecutive hits in the seventh round and was declared defeated. Hero then fell unconscious and was rushed to a hospital in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
Hero is said to be in a coma for 4 days. Tito’s manager, Armin Tan, said in his statement that Hero was assisted during treatment with a ventilator.
And on Sunday, March 3, 2022, Hero is reported to have breathed his last.
“It’s true, Hero Tito died. Today, the body will be taken to Malang for burial. I will accompany you there,” Armin Tan told reporters as reported by Antara.
To note, Hero Tito throughout his career has played 47 matches with details of 29 wins and 16 defeats.
