VIVA – Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali said Indonesia had been officially appointed to host the 2022 ASEAN Para Games replacing Vietnam.
Information regarding the certainty of Indonesia as the host was obtained by Zainuddin yesterday, Wednesday, February 23, 2022. According to him, this is a good step to sharpen Indonesian athletes to be able to compete at the ASEAN level.
“This is actually not our request, but the host Vietnam can only hold the ASEAN Games. There is no ASEAN Para Games, so they asked Indonesia to be the host,” said Zainuddin after declaring the Aceh-North Sumatra PON, at Anjong Mon Mata, Aceh Governor’s Hall Complex, Thursday, February 24, 2022.
According to Zainuddin, the time allotted by the committee was short, because at the last ASEAN Games in the Philippines, the games were completely eliminated. So this time, they bring it back.
“This is in such a short time. Because the ASEAN games in the Philippines were completely eliminated. So we bring back our athletes,” he said.
Athletes of the Indonesian games, he said, were ready to compete later. This is also part of their motivation so that Indonesia is ready to become the host.
“At the Paralympics they were in their 40s. This is our goal so that we can motivate them. So we declare that we are ready to host the 2022 ASEAN Para Games,” he said.
